Martha Kathryn “Kitty” Tedrick 80, of Vancouver WA, passed away on
May 24th after a valiant battle with ovarian cancer.
Kitty was born September 17th, 1941 on Scott Air Force Base in
Belleville, IL to Maxine and Cliff Graves. After graduating from Lewis
and Clark High School in Spokane, Washington, she went on to study at
Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington. Ultimately,
Kitty received a degree in education with an emphasis in English.
After graduation, Kitty began her teaching career in Fairfield,
California, and later continued her career in Marysville, California.
Kitty worked as a teacher and administrator for almost 40 years. The
lives that Kitty touched and influenced during her career could not
possibly be expressed in words. Kitty had an immense impact on the
trajectory of success in students' lives throughout her career.
After retiring in 2003, Kitty relocated to Vancouver, Washington to be
closer to her sisters. Being the oldest of 7, Kitty loved her siblings dearly
and enjoyed their time together immensely. She enjoyed her
neighborhood community, their many gatherings, as well as her
BUNCO group. She was also the HOA Board President for many years.
Kitty’s greatest happiness came from the joy and laughter she enjoyed
with her grandchildren. Nobody could make her laugh like her
grandchildren.
Kitty is survived by her daughter Donna Sorensen, and son Dan Heckler
as well as siblings Florence (Jean) Webb, Gail Conard, Patricia (Trisha)
Stevens, Joe Graves, Michael Graves, Joan Dickerson, and her
grandchildren, Jake, Blake, Taylor, Luke and Reed.
A private celebration of life will be held on July 30 at Bethany
Vineyard and Winery, one of Kitty’s favorite places.
