Lifelong local resident Lowell “Gene” Counts, 69, passed away peacefully July 6, 2021, due to complications from heart disease and diabetes.
Gene was the son of Lonnie and Ruby (Price) Counts, and the stepson of Bud Tinker. They preceded him in death. Two brothers, Delbert Tinker and Douglas Counts also predeceased him.
He is survived by two brothers, Jerry Tinker of Vancouver, and Allen Tinker of Kelso; two sisters, Neva Tinker of Portland, and “the baby,” Terry Tinker of Kelso; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and several good, longtime friends, including Roger Traub and Daryl McCallum.
Gene grew up in Longview and attended R.A. Long High School. He was a mechanic for J.H. Kelly for 16 years. He loved rebuilding cars and trucks, and NASCAR races. Those who knew him would agree he enjoyed being alone. He is now at peace and will be greatly missed by all.
At Gene’s request, no service will be held. Donations to assist the family with final expenses may be made on the Steele Chapel webpage under services, payment center, tribute pay, and clicking on make a payment.
