Jerry Allen Jenkins

March 20, 1942 — September 8, 2021

Strong and loving family man Jerry Allen Jenkins, 79, of Longview passed away Sept. 8, 2021, at home.
He was born March 20, 1942, in Jacobia, Texas, to George Albert and Jeffi Lee (McWhorter) Jenkins, and raised with a large extended family. He attended Wolf City High School in Texas, and served four years in the Air Force. After a four-year electrical apprenticeship, Jerry became a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He retired in 2004.
Jerry took great pride in his work, but his greatest satisfaction came as minister of the Church of Christ. He had a strong faith and love for the Lord. Jerry was a quiet man, but when he spoke he always had something important to say. He enjoyed camping, RVing and traveling with his wife.
He married his beloved wife Charlotte (Howard) Jenkins in Benton City, Wash, on April 19, 1978. She survives him at home. Also surviving are three sons, Stephen Jenkins of Toledo, Wash., Michael Jenkins of Vancouver, Wash., and Mark Jenkins of New Port Richy, Fla.; two daughters, Jeffi Jenkins of DeLaud, Fla., and Susan Jenkins of Clearwater, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous siblings, nieces and nephews.
A son, Terry Jenkins, preceded him in death.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at Steele Chapel with a reception to follow. The service will be live-streamed for those unable to attend.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Home Health & Hospice at give@chhh.org, or Mountain States Children’s Home at www.msch.org.
