Delores Jean Hunsucker

Delores Jean Hunsucker, 88, of Clatskanie, Ore., passed away peacefully in her sleep May 17, 2022.

She was born Sept. 29, 1933, in Wallowa, Ore., to Clark and Ida Scott, and attended North Power High School.

On Dec. 31, 1952, she married Harvey Hunsucker and became a homemaker. They moved to the local area 50 years ago from Reeds Port, Ore. Delores was a supportive wife and mother. Her family was her life. She was a gifted seamstress and an active member of the Clatskanie Baptist Church. Delores was always ready to help others. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings, needlework, square dancing and gardening.

She was preceded in death by Harvey, her husband of 68 years, on Nov. 8, 2021; and an infant son, Michael.

Survivors include three children, Rob Hunsucker (Silvia) of Clatskanie, Gina Akin of Vancouver, and Randy Hunsucker of Longview; a brother-in-law, Doug Hunsucker (Betty) of Vancouver; a sister-in-law, Sandy Jordan of Vancouver; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. June 10, at Steele Chapel. Pastor Kirk Bennett will officiate. Delores will be laid to rest with Harvey at Longview Memorial Park.
