Lifelong local resident David John “Pete” Swift Sr., 77, of Winlock passed away June 24, 2022, in Centralia.
He was born Sept. 24, 1944, in Cathlamet, Wash., to Don and Verna (Malakowsky) Swift. He was the second of seven children. Pete graduated from Wahkiakum High School in 1962 and enlisted in the Navy, serving on Midway Island.
In 1971 Pete married Toni Peterson. They had two children and later divorced.
Pete spent most of his career in the timber industry as a truck driver. After retiring he worked part-time at Home Depot. He loved fishing and spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Pete leaves behind two sons, David and Brian Swift; a granddaughter, Emily Swift; two brothers, Mike and Kenny; a sister, Barb; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Pete’s life is planned for 3 p.m. July 16 at 722 Elochoman Valley Road in Cathlamet.
Final arrangements were entrusted to Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park.
