Calvin J. Hampton

November 2, 1950 — June 25, 2023

Calvin J. Hampton was born Nov. 2, 1950, in Cathlamet, Wash. He passed away June 25, 2023, at his Rainier home, as the result of a heart attack.


He is survived by his wife of almost 20 years, Stacy Hampton; his children, Christy Hampton, Cally Hampton, Freddie Williamson, Cassy and Doug Jacob, and Kaile and Brett Demaree; his grandchildren, Ryan, Kaylnn, Cameron, Jordan, Peyton, Tanner, Taylor, Hunter, Gavin, Kaitlyn, Hannah, Austin and Kenzi; and his great-grandchildren, Parker and Baby Hampton on the way.


He was preceded in death by his mother, LaRene Quigley; and his father, Rollen Hampton.


Cal graduated from Cathlamet High School and went on to attend the Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT), where he earned a degree in surveying engineering technology. He was a land surveyor for more than 40 years. He started his own company, Hampstur Corporation, in 1983. He loved his career and was very proud of what he accomplished.


Cal coached girl’s fast pitch softball for many years. He loved working with the girls and inspiring them to do their best. He was proud of them. He loved bowling and was a bowler on leagues at Triangle Bowl for many years. He also loved to gamble and took many casino trips. He didn’t like to sit still and was always busy. He helped build the family home and was always doing home improvement projects. He also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, and framed and hung many around the house.


He was a very loving and caring man who will be missed.


A celebration of Cal’s life is planned from noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 19 at 73481 Debast Road, in Rainier.
